Social Networking: Bringing Literature to Life
Explanation of social networking on Common Craft video "What is Social Networking" on YouTube

Examples of social networking:
  1. Linkedin
  2. Facebook - not as good to use as an educational tool
  3. Myspace.com - not as good to use as an educational tool
  4. Windows Live Spaces
  5. Ning (www.ning.com) - what Ben uses with his 11th and 12th grade students

Demonstrate understanding of character development by creating a social network profile for and leaving messages as a character from William Shakespeare's "Rome and Juliet." When using Ning, students take on their character's role and do NOT reveal their own name and/or information. Assignment can be for the character's to interact with each other and explain themselves. Can have another assignment where the student finds the attire their character would wear.
